Labradors and Poodles have been cross bred to produce an outstanding and unique family pet. The Labradoodle has fast become a very welcome addition to the top ten most favourite dogs in Britain and has had a meteoric rise in popularity over the past few years. Taking all the best attributes from both the Labrador and Poodle breeds, the English Labradoodle has not only become popular for it's sound temperament and fun loving spirit, but also because it is suited for special work including Therapy, Assistance and Seizure Alert Dogs as well as Guide Dogs simply because they are so intelligent and easy to train.

THE ENGLISH LABRADOODLE
|
The English Labradoodle originates
directly from
the Labrador Retriever and Poodle. At Doodledoos we breed
MINIATURE Labradoodles and they are the first generation (F1) cross from
our own exclusive line of small (KC Registered) Chocolate Labradors and a Miniature Poodle Stud.
As breeders of Labradors with 15 years of experience, we pride ourselves that our
Labradors (which are rigorously health tested) bring sound temperament
and great form to our Labradoodle puppies. Both English and Australian Labradoodles make ideal family pets and it is our aim to make available sympathetically bred, high quality, healthy miniature Labradoodle puppies bred from rigorously health tested parents for you to enjoy and experience their outstanding uniqueness.

IS A MINIATURE LABRADOODLE SUITABLE FOR ME?
|
Our Miniature Labradoodles grow to approx 16"-18" to the shoulder and to approximately 35lb in weight. The Miniature size is ideal for those who don't want a dog quite as big as say a Labrador, but want one larger than Jack Russell or West Highland Terrier for example. Their compact size makes the miniatures suitable for car travel companions (we recommend puppy crates for home and car) and for those who don't have a large house or garden. However, they are popular with everyone - families, singles, couples and the older generation - simply because they are easy to care for, fun, sociable and a pleasure to train.

THE ALLERGY FACTOR
|
Our English F1 Labradoodles
do shed their coats.
Generation and Parentage are both factors in the quality and texture of
the Labradoodle's Coat. Coats vary greatly from puppy to puppy in
just one litter of F1 English Labradoodles which is one of the
reasons why they are such a diverse and interesting breed. A puppy's coat that does not
cause an allergic reaction is no guarantee that a reaction won't occur
when the puppy's coat changes in adulthood. Some English Labradoodles moult profusely, some moult a little and some
hardly moult
at all. Pure bred Australian Labradoodles do not moult. 50 50 Labradoodles have good quality coats, rather like the pure Australian Labradoodle, but with LOW shedding. They incorporate the best qualities of both the F1 and the pure Australian and appeal to many with mild allergies, and also because they are a little lower in cost than a Pure Australian! They make a wonderful family pet because they are low odour and low shedding and not least because that wonderful 'doodle' character is always prevalent.

HEALTH AND FITNESS
|
Sympathetic breeding by informed breeders has significantly weakened and in some cases improved genetic weaknesses in both pedigree (Labrador and Poodle) breeds - however this does not exclude the necessity for the vital health checks to be performed as a matter of routine. Hip/Elbow Scoring, Annual Eye Tests and DNA Optigen Eye Tests, together with DNA tests for Hereditary Diseases are part of a vigorous health check programme undergone at Doodledoos by the time our breeding stock reach maturity at one year old. The Labradoodle is a very athletic and intelligent dog, easy to train and joy to own. A particular lover of water and just as interested in retrieving as any Labrador, you will find the Labradoodle to be highly intuitive, agile and great fun. We like to give initial training (eg.paper-training/basic commands/sound associations/collar and lead introduction) to all our puppies before they leave for their new homes, hopefully making adjustment into their new homes as easy as possible.
|
SOCIABILITY
|
The Labradoodle is incredibly easy going. A
real favourite with all ages, especially children, and very compatible with either existing or
new-coming pets into the household, the Labradoodle will easily adapt to
the lively bustling family home as well as the quieter home, bringing a
smile to everyone's faces! Our puppies are born and raised in
our family home where they are kept clean, safe and quiet. They
are socialised from an early age with our own young children and with
other pets, so we are confident that we are raising healthy, socially
mature puppies with stable confident personalities.
We are people who think that family life is greatly enhanced by having pets and that children grow up to become responsible and sensitive to animal's needs, ultimately bringing greater appreciation and education of the animal world. |
